FABRIC
Stains: Dark stains along the hoist edge.
Surface Grime: Lightly soiled throughout.
Accretions: White substance on the upper left corner of the obverse side.
Fading: Slight fade in the color of the silk.
Embrittlement: Silk is thin, delicate, prone to splitting in the painted areas.
Tears: Silk has split throughout the painted portion on both sides.
Holes: Reverse- One hole approximately 13" from the hoist edge; another hole approx. 1" from the fly edge.
Previous Repairs: Netting sewn over the flag with multiple rows of zigzag stitched monofilament. The hoist has been reinforced with nylon.
Other: Netting makes the condition of the fabric difficult to judge. Stitching has created millions of holes, which will eventually weaken the fabric.
FABRIC DECORATION
Description: Paint/Attachments - fringe
Discoloration: Yellowing of fringe.
Surface Grime: Lightly soiled throughout.
Fading: Paint colors have slightly faded.
Tears: Frequent cracking/splitting of paint and silk throughout.
Additions: Fringe (?), netting.
Comments: Netting is sewn underneath the border of the fringe and the stitching of the border looks like machine work. Possible fringe was added when the netting was, and is not original to the flag.
